Model United Nations Team

On March 16, IVC’s award-winning Model United Nations team attended the IECMUN conference at Riverside City College and won 12 awards, more than any other college and surpassing our previous best. Awards included FIVE Outstanding Delegate awards (first-place), one Distinguished Delegate awards (2nd place), four Honorable Mention awards (3rd place) and two Best Delegate awards (peer-award).

The 34-member team simulated the Security Council (SC) on the issue of strengthening maritime security, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on safeguarding education in conflict and post-conflict contexts, and General Assembly Second Committee (GA2) on strengthening global supply chains to promote food security. The team swept the awards in UNESCO and won more than half the awards in the highly competitive Security Council. However, the real win was seeing students of all backgrounds, age groups, and learning styles thrive in this experiential setting.

Special Congratulations to the Award Winners:

A team of 16 students will be travelling to New York next to attend the National Model United Nations Conference from April 5-11.

Model UN allows students to learn about complex global issues while equipping them with workforce ready skills such as leadership, public speaking, problem solving, negotiation, resilience, and teamwork. These skills align with the World Economic Forum’s “Future of Jobs Report 2025.” It also motivates them to set and pursue high-level goals.
