In December, Irvine Valley College’s Mock Trial Club competed in the 3rd Annual American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) Community College Clash, a national virtual tournament designed to strengthen and showcase mock trial programs at the community college level. IVC entered two, four-person teams to compete.
IVC secured two of the top four spots in the tournament, earning first place for outstanding overall team and fourth-place national ranking.
Students also earned individual accolades for their courtroom skill and performance. Jayden Sanchez and Ricky Larson received Outstanding Attorney Awards, while Francis Samson and Jayden Sanchez were recognized with Outstanding Witness Awards. Club leaders Muhammad Ismail and Jana Salam also competed, helping guide the team’s strong showing.
Participating colleges included Sacramento City College, Alamance Community College, Lone Star College–Montgomery, Diablo Valley College, West Valley College, De Anza Community College, and Oxnard College.
