Scribendi, the flagship literary and arts publication of the Western Regional Honors Council (WRHC), is celebrating its 40th anniversary this spring, and Irvine Valley College honors student Kimia Seifi is among the students featured in this year's edition. Seifi's visual art piece, Pho Dollars, was selected for publication in the 2026 issue of Scribendi, an annual publication showcasing creative works from honors students at member institutions throughout the region and beyond.
Created using soft pastel on sanded pastel paper, Pho Dollars highlights Seifi's artistic talent and represents Irvine Valley College among works selected from honors programs across the United States.
Scribendi is honored year after year to include the works of students from honors colleges across the United States and especially its neighbors in the West, numbering in the past five years to 1,500 submitting students across 130 contributing institutions.
Scribendi features honors students' creative work from a vast breadth of backgrounds, perspectives, and academic paths. These works include poetry, creative nonfiction, visual art, photography, and even an open media category for any medium from zines, film, to interpretive dances. Scribendi began in 1985 as an undergraduate honors magazine at The University of New Mexico and, since then, has only grown, earning four Pacemaker Awards from the Associated Collegiate Press and being nominated as a finalist eight times. It is the official publication of the National Collegiate Honors Council and accepts submissions from any honors institution in the National Collegiate Honors Council. However, without contributors like Kimia Seifi, Scribendi would not have achieved its prestige; it is contributions to the magazine like these that help keep it alive.
