The IVC Girls Who Code Challenge Team competed in the Spring 2023 College Loops Challenge against several other chapters of Girls Who Code around the nation last month. The team of four won first place overall!
The College Loops Challenge is an opportunity for students to get together with a team of Loop members and strengthen their bond by working on a project with shared goals. This year's theme was, "Create a product or technical solution that showcases the Girls Who Code value of bravery by addressing a need in your community or solving a problem you care about."
Led by Natasha Lukamanto and (Tingfen) Fiona Zhang, the team showed great teamwork and pushed through programming bugs and issues. President of IVC’s Girls Who Code Club Janhavi Shah focused on the front-end design and prototyping while Pauline Vu, Fiona Zhang, and Natasha Lukamanto focused on the back-end programming.
The CEO of Girls Who Code, Tarika Barrett, said, "I am truly impressed by IVC's Girls Who Code Loop's dedication and willingness to seize an opportunity when it presents itself. They have displayed Girls Who Code values in so many ways this year, all the while being less than one year old in the program!"
The team members were awarded $500 each, were featured on Girls Who Code's official Instagram, and were treated to a meet and greet with Tarika Barrett.
