Irvine Valley College (IVC) students now have a more affordable path to earning bachelor’s degrees online, supported by a new partnership with Arizona State University (ASU). Beginning this fall, eligible students and alumni from IVC can save 22% on tuition when they transfer to ASU Online through the California Community College Achievement Plan.
Over the past five years, 541 IVC students have transferred to ASU, making it the #1 out-of-state transfer destination for IVC students and #9 overall among all transfer institutions. The opportunity is part of ASU’s broader effort to increase access to higher education for California students, including those at IVC. This seamless and affordable transfer pathway for California residents reduces financial barriers and supports students who need flexibility and options for an education that prepares them for the future. There are no income requirements to receive the special tuition reduction.
“This partnership with ASU Online opens even more doors for our students to complete their educational journey affordably and with flexibility,” said IVC President Dr. John Hernandez. “Whether students want to stay close to home, balance work and family commitments, or pursue specialized programs not offered locally, this opportunity provides a high-quality pathway to achieving their bachelor’s degree and beyond.”
The program is a promising opportunity to expand access to undergraduate degrees from a global research university, especially for place-bound students and those in regions without nearby higher education institutions.
ASU Online reimagines learning by providing students top-tier university resources and support from enrollment to graduation and beyond. Students can choose from more than 180 undergraduate degrees — all taught by the same faculty using the same curriculum available on ASU’s campuses. ASU Online and IVC serve thousands of California students and alumni, empowering them to succeed by preparing them to contribute to their local communities and the state’s workforce and economy in fields such as biological sciences, computer science, forensic science, medical studies, kinesiology, and ocean futures.
