Congratulations to Deanna Valdez, IVC’s Outstanding Full-time Teacher of the Year.
Deanna is an educator whose passion for teaching and commitment to student success are evident in every classroom she leads. Known for her dynamic, student-centered approach, she creates an engaging learning environment where collaboration, active participation and real-time feedback help students build both skills and confidence. From precalculus to multivariable calculus, she meets students where they are and empowers them to persist and succeed—especially those who may not yet see themselves as “math people.” Her impact extends far beyond campus.
As the creator of a widely recognized YouTube channel, she has expanded access to high-quality mathematics instruction for tens of thousands of learners around the world. She also launched Irvine Valley College’s first annual high school math contest, strengthening connections with local students and inspiring the next generation to explore STEM. Through each initiative, she demonstrates innovation, leadership and a deep commitment to making mathematics accessible and meaningful.
Deanna was recognized at IVC's Employee Recognition Ceremony on April 16.
