IVC is proud to celebrate Dr. Brooke Bui, Dean of Liberal Arts, who has been named Irvine Valley College’s (IVC) 2025 Manager of the Year—an honor that recognizes her exceptional leadership, unwavering commitment to equity, and profound impact on the IVC community.
With degrees from Macalester College (B.A.), the University of Minnesota (M.A.), and the University of Southern California (Ph.D.), Dr. Bui brings both academic brilliance and a laser-sharp focus on student success to every initiative she leads. Since joining IVC, she has consistently raised the bar for what it means to be a leader, balancing strategic vision with empathy and integrity.
Her colleagues describe her as calm under pressure and deeply supportive of her team—qualities that are especially important when you're managing one of the most dynamic and diverse departments on campus. Known for her meticulous attention to detail and sound, student-centered decision-making, Dr. Bui is a leader others aspire to emulate.
Beyond her day-to-day responsibilities, Dr. Bui has championed transformative initiatives aimed at fostering equity and inclusion across campus. She played a key role in creating inclusive hiring practices through the PAC-DEIA Higher Learning Workgroup and has been a driving force behind the growth of noncredit ESL, the English Language Center, and the AESL program—initiatives that have opened doors for countless underserved students.
Dr. Bui also sets a gold standard for mentorship. From nurturing classified professionals to helping student workers transition into permanent roles, she builds people up and creates opportunities for them to thrive. Her leadership isn’t just about results—it’s about relationships.
