Thanks to the approval and funding of Measure B, IVC and its Foundation will receive $100,000 each year for the next three years. The funds will be used toward student scholarships, college programs at IVC for area high school students, and for improvements to the Early College program.
IVC has Transfer Admission Guarantees (TAGs) with six University of California campuses. These guarantees allow qualifying students to receive guaranteed admission to the participating UC of their choice.
IVC houses a vital honors program, and offers dozens of honors courses to enrich the learning experience of academically talented and highly motivated students. The program is a member of the Honors Transfer Council of California and the UCLA Transfer Alliance Program (TAP).
IVC’s new Veterans Services Center promotes a successful transition from military life for IVC’s many student veterans, and has become a haven for a new generation of student veterans. IVC recently was designated as a Military Friendly School for the fifth year in a row.
The IVC Foundation awarded $368,200 in scholarships and awards in the 2013-2014 school year, made possible through contributions by local businesses, corporations, service organizations and individual donors, as well as IVC’s own faculty and staff.
IVC offers a host of student support services and programs to enrich students’ experiences at IVC and ensure assistance where they need it most. These include a full counseling program for assistance with personal, academic and career life; a health and wellness center that offers a variety of services; programs for those who are economically disadvantaged, such as EOPS; and a thriving Disabled Students Programs & Services (DSPS) department.
The Associated Students of IVC (ASIVC), the student governing body, sponsors diverse campus clubs and organizations. These include culturally focused groups; academic and special interest organizations; and the Phi Theta Kappa and Psi Beta honor societies. A list of clubs is published in the student handbook as well as on the ASIVC website.
Since 1990, IVC has been committed to maintaining a strong athletic and academic tradition. Competing as a member of the nation’s toughest college conference, the Orange Empire Conference, Irvine Valley teams have collected 18 state championships and 37 conference titles from 1990 through the spring of 2014. IVC currently competes in 13 intercollegiate sports.
The IVC CONNECT Partnership Program was created to demystify the matriculation process for the student and their parents or guardians in a supportive and non-threatening environment, while they are still in high school. Wherever possible, IVC brings the entire college admissions process directly to participating high schools, including application workshops; in-service training for high school counselors; and onsite English and math assessments.
