REGISTRATION PERMITS AND APPOINTMENTS
New and Former Students:
To get a permit, you must file an application. Applications are available online, in the class schedule, or at the Office of Admissions and Records. You will get your permit and registration appointment (issued on a first-come, first-served basis) when you file your application. You may be advised to complete an assessment and orientation session prior to registration. If so, you will be given instructions when you apply.
Continuing Students:
Each semester, permits are mailed to continuing students. For the Spring 2010 semester, you will be considered a continuing student if you have been enrolled at Irvine Valley College or Saddleback College during the Fall 2009 semester and will receive at least one letter grade or "W" grade.
ADDING CLASSES - FULL SEMESTER CLASSES
During the first week of instruction:
If the class is open (i.e., if it is posted on the Open Class List in the registration area), students may enroll in it during in-person registration hours. Online enrollment requires an add permit code (APC) issued by the instructor after the class has begun.
If the class is closed, students must consult the course instructor for permission to enroll. Instructors will use their discretion in issuing add permits. Students may enroll online using the unique add permission code (APC) issued by the instructor, or they may submit the APC or signed add permit to the Office of Admissions and Records for processing.
During the second week of instruction:
All full-semester classes are considered officially closed and require an add permit submitted to the Office of Admissions and Records or add permission code (APC) issued by the instructor. Add permits must be acted on prior to the census day (usually the first day of the fourth week for full-term classes), or they will not be honored.
ADDING CLASSES - SHORT-TERM AND 8-WEEK CLASSES
Once the term has begun, students may enroll in eight-week, short-term, and other late-starting classes only until the day before the first class meeting, and then only if the class is open. Once the first day of classes arrives, instructor permission is required for all add activity.
DROPPING CLASSES
You can drop a class using the online registration system, telephone registration system, or by filing a "Drop Card" at the Office of Admissions and Records. The deadlines for dropping a class are:
- Drop without a transcript entry - no more than the first 30% of the course based on the the ticket number.
- Drop with a "W" grade - no more than 65% of the course
