IVC Women's Basketball Team Captures Fourth Straight OEC Title

Irvine Valley's women’s basketball team captured its fourth Orange Empire Conference (OEC) title last week.

The Lasers closed out the season with an overall record of 23-2 and 12-0 in conference. The team was ranked No. 4 in the state and No. 1 in Southern California. 

Laser sophomore guard Morgan Higgins was named the OEC MVP with forward Sarah Matossian, guard Paola Roa and guard Jessica Suruor also being selected first team all-conference. Head coach Julie Hanks was named the conference coach of the year.

From IVC accounting student to successful entrepreneur

Andria Radmacher has a piece of advice for students: “If you can master that skill of constant, perpetual improvement and learning… you’ll always be on the cutting edge.” 

From the beginning, Radmacher was always one step ahead. Before attending Irvine Valley College for her Accounting, Associate in Science degree, she was learning the ropes as an executive assistant, doing work in QuickBooks for her boss.

IVC Partners with Cal State Fullerton to Increase STEM Transfer Opportunities

As part of Project RAISER, a $5-million grant from the US Department of Education to support STEM transfer students, IVC has partnered with Cal State Fullerton’s College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and its College of Engineering and Computer Science to ensure that students’ learning opportunities align with skills necessary to meet workplace needs.

Brent Warner named OCCUE Outstanding Teacher of the Year

IVC ESL Professor Brent Warner has been selected as the 2022 Orange County Computer-Using Educators (OCCUE) Outstanding Teacher of the Year for his commitment to providing students with an engaging instructional experience that allows them to excel in their acquisition of English.  

Crossing Oceans for New Opportunities

Ju-Yu Yen is on the road to success. 

An adult learner and transfer student originally from Taiwan, Ju-Yu came to the United States in 2019 to kickstart her education and launch a career and set an example for her kids. At Irvine Valley College, she found the opportunity to do just that.

IVC selected as part of #CaliforniansForAll College Corps Program

Irvine Valley College (IVC) has been selected to participate in the #CaliforniansForAll College Corps program. IVC joins a local consortium with Concordia University Irvine and Vanguard University who were selected as part of 45 new partner colleges and universities, including 18 community colleges to launch the largest state-level investment in a college service program in California history.

Five IVC Students Selected for Competitive CITI Program

CITI Ventures and NexusEdge Education selected five IVC students for the fall cohort of the CITI University Partnerships in Innovation & Discovery (CUPID) Program. Shivum Berry, Vivian Du, Chase Nortman, Mya Thanegi Soe, and Elisa Marconell Tejedor, all IVC business students, were five of the eight students selected statewide. The CUPID Program is intended to develop a pipeline of California community college students from which to recruit for employment.
