COVID-19 Updates & Resources

September 23, 2020

For Immediate Release:
Wednesday, September 23, 2020

Dear Students:

As we are now in week six of the fall semester, I hope this communication finds you progressing in your classes. Today, I want to take this opportunity to share with you that Irvine Valley College’s Spring 2021 semester (January 19 – May 26, 2021) will take place mostly online. If public health conditions permit, it is possible a small number of hands-on labs and activity classes could return to campus. However, it is our intention for IVC’s spring schedule of classes to be primarily online.

As you know, IVC has been conducting classes online since mid-March due to COVID-19. I understand that the decision to continue with remote instruction may be disappointing news to some. It is our hope that by announcing this decision now our students, faculty, staff, and others who might be affected can plan accordingly. The safety and well-being of our students and employees continues to be our top priority.

I recognize that it may not be easy juggling family, school, and work responsibilities while maintaining your well-being, however, I want you to know we will continue to be here for you. We have tremendous resources and student support services available to you. Please remember that we are committed to helping you be successful in your life and with your college goals.

Plans for the 2021 Commencement Ceremony will be announced during the Spring 2021 semester.

I look forward to the day when we can all return to campus. Until such time, thank you for all your continued efforts to support one another virtually. Together we are #IVCStrong. Stay well!

Sincerely,

John Hernandez, PhD
President
