IVC & ATEP Campuses Closed to the Public
Effective today, March 16, the physical campus for Irvine Valley College (IVC) and the Advanced Technology Education Park (ATEP) will be closed to the public. Please enter the IVC campus via the Laser Way entrance. Parking is available in student and staff lots.
On Sunday evening, several factors prompted our closure to the public. The Orange County Health Care Agency reported that the total number of cases of COVID-19 has increased to 17 in Orange County, with three cases of the community-acquired virus. The agency reports that there is now laboratory evidence that COVID-19 is likely spreading in the community. While there have not been any confirmed cases of COVID-19 at IVC, limiting our campus operations and traffic is essential for the health and safety of our community.
Campus Access Restrictions, March 16 through April 6:
On Friday, March 13, the Orange County Department of Education supported the temporary closure of all school districts operating in the county. As a constituent district of the county, and out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff, South Orange County Community College District Chancellor Kathleen Burke has directed the closures of Saddleback College, Irvine Valley College, and ATEP to the public for a 21-day period.
Beginning at 6 am on March 16 through April 6, the colleges will be open only to full-time employees and students. The general public will be barred from both campuses. This timeline could change; the district and colleges will continue to monitor this fluid situation and make changes accordingly.
Students, we are asking you to continue to fully participate in your instruction online and also take advantage of the many student support services online we are providing.
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during this challenging time.
We are IVC!
