This message is intended to directly address information posted on social media that an IVC student may have been exposed to the Coronavirus here in Orange County. At this time, there is no credible information to support this posting.
Irvine Valley College Administration and the South Orange County Community College District (SOCCCD) primarily rely on and adhere strictly to, the guidance provided by expert agencies such as the Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). In the past hour we have been in direct contact with the CDC and have received the following information and guidance that we wanted to report to you.
The CDC continues to have no credible information that an IVC student has been exposed to the Coronavirus. The CDC is recommending no change in any regular behavior on campus at IVC. The CDC will update IVC directly if they receive any new information.
Based on the information provided to us directly from the CDC, there will be no special precautions recommended for IVC at this time. IVC will remain open for classes. Your college administration and the SOCCCD take this health concern very seriously and will actively and aggressively monitor all relevant information and provide it to the IVC community in as close to real time as possible.
Finally, the OCHCA continues to say that the risk for individuals living within the County of Orange remains MINIMAL.
