The purpose of the Advisory Council on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility is to advise the President on strategies to design, implement and sustain DEIA goals at Irvine Valley College. The President’s Advisory Council will assist in creating and coordinating a college-wide equity framework to ensure alignment with institutionally set diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.

Charge
- Responsible for assisting the President in designing annual diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility goals that provide an institutional roadmap.
- Recommend organizational strategies for all DEIA goals.
- Ensure DEIA goals and strategies are assessed to document and validate progress.
- Communicate and coordinate with IVC committees, task forces and other shared governance groups to ensure alignment with like-minded campus equity efforts.
- Ensure coordination of DEIA professional development and other training or educational opportunities with campus stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the District and Saddleback College on goals and strategies that require a district wide approach for revisions, creation or implementation of policies, administrative regulations, procedures and practices.
- The effectiveness of the Council will be re-evaluated every two years to determine readiness for inclusion in the shared governance architecture.
Membership
- The President’s Advisory Council will use a tri-chair model to conduct its work: 1 faculty, 1 classified, and 1 administrator/manager. The tri-chairs are invited to serve by the College President.
- The DEIA Council will consist of faculty, classified, administrators and students, who will be invited to serve based on their institutional leadership roles, experience, interest, and passion for equity-centric work, and to ensure alignment with college initiatives, such as the Student Equity Plan, Guided Pathways, and Caring Campus, to name a few. The College President will consult and reach mutual agreement with the academic senate, classified senate and ASIVC presidents, prior to appointing members.
