How to update your pages on the IVC Website (
www.ivc.edu)
IVC has several websites:
These instructions are for the main www.ivc.edu website only. If you need instructions on how to update content on any other IVC-related website, send an email to the Webmaster (ivcwebmaster@ivc.edu).
Procedure for new folders on the IVC website:
What is a "new folder"? A folder is a section of the website (sometimes called a "sub web"). Each department or campus organizational unit (OU) can have a folder on the IVC web site.
Examples of departments / organizational units that can have a folder on the IVC website include:
- Academic school or department (e.g., math, English, dance, School of Life Sciences) ;
- Administrative / Student Services departments (e.g., Office of the President, Counseling) ;
- Governance groups (e.g., Academic Senate, ASIVC), and
- College-sanctioned student clubs and co-curricular activities (e.g., PTK, athletics ).
If you want a folder created for your department, committee, club, or other IVC organizational unit, send a request to the Webmaster at
ivcwebmaster@ivc.edu .
Procedure for adding/updating pages in your folder:
Once your organization has a folder on the IVC website, you can create new pages, update existing pages, or delete pages using one of the following methods:
Method 1: Do it Yourself
The main IVC website (
www.ivc.edu) uses a sophisticated content management system (CMS) that makes it possible for people with little or no HTML knowledge to change their pages. If you want to make the changes yourself, send an email to the Webmaster at
ivcwebmaster@ivc.edu to request CMS access and instructions.
Method 2: Submit Request to the Web Team
Technology Services staff provides website content update services to a number of departments. If you want Technology Services to do your web page changes for you, just send an email to the Technology Services web team at
ivcwebmaster@ivc.edu with the following information:
- The url of the page you want changed;
- The exact changes that you want made, and
- Any files that you want added to the page (e.g., pdf documents, graphics, etc.).
Request processing times will vary with the complexity of the request and available resources.
