To start the process please visit the Veterans Services Center with the proper documentation (DD214, Active Duty ID and Identification), speak with the Certifying Official to start your benefits, get acclimated to the center and see how we can assist you, meet the vocational rehabilitation person on site, schedule an appointment for disability certification, ask about housing/food needs, tutoring for veterans, mental wellness programs, health benefits enrollment and other beneficial programs to address veteran needs.

There are 7 steps to “matriculation” (which is a fancy word meaning "how you join the college").

Step 1: You Apply to IVC.

You can apply online at Apply Now. If you have attended any other colleges, now is the time to order official transcripts to be sent to IVC. This is required if you are using G.I. Bill benefits!

Step 2: You complete both the online orientation and the online advisement.

When you apply, you will receive a “Student ID number” which you can use to log into the school’s student web portal known as MySite. You can access the online orientation and online advisement 24/7 from any computer with Internet access through your MySite account.

·         Log into your MySite account

·         Click on “My Info”, then “Matriculation”

·         Click on “Online Orientation”, complete it

·         Click on “Online Advisement”, complete it

Complete each one start-to-finish because if you stop in the middle, you will have to start over (it will not pick up where you left off). Each one takes about 30 minutes.

Step 3: You complete the math and English assessment.

In order to place you in the correct level of English and math, you must complete the assessments. English and math assessments are available by appointment only. Assessment test times can be found here. (Note: if you have taken an English or math course at any other college, or if you require any special accommodations, come see me before you schedule your assessment).

Step 4: Develop your first semester academic plan.

If you have not come to the counselor yet for help with steps 1-3, now is the time to schedule an appointment by calling 949-451-5319 and asking for an appointment with the Veterans Counselor. Together we will develop your first semester plan as well as lay the groundwork for your comprehensive academic plan.

Step 5: Register for classes.

Successful completion of steps 1-4 will allow you to register for your first-semester classes on your assigned registration date and time. You will find your assigned registration time on your MySite account under “My Information”. You should set a reminder in your smart phone, tablet or computer for the night before and shop for your desired classes by placing them in your “Shopping Cart” so all you have to do is “Check Out” at your assigned date and time. Click Select your classes.docxSelect your classes.docx for more detailed instructions.

Step 6: Attend your classes.

Do not miss the first class meeting. You may be dropped to make room for students who are waiting to enroll. Contact your instructor if you cannot be present at the first class!

Step 7: See me for follow-up counseling.

After the semester begins, use the instructions above to make a follow-up appointment with me so we can fine-tune your educational plan by discussing your goals and future plans. If you are unsure about your education and career goals, click Vision Statement Template.docxVision Statement Template.docx to get started on a personal “Vision Statement” that can act as a starting point for our planning.

Welcome to IVC, and know that we are here to help you succeed. If you have any questions or needs, don't hesitate to come see us!
