Irvine Valley Promise


Eligibility deadline has been EXTENDED to Friday, April 17, 2020. Please complete all financial aid and eligibility steps by April 17 for consideration. We will notify you of your status in May 2020.

Students who meet all of the following criteria will be eligible to receive free tuition (until program capacity is reached) for the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters:

Students must be:

  • A first-time college student (no prior college attendance at IVC or any other institution)
  • A California resident or AB540 eligible

Students must complete:

  1. Apply for admission to IVC
  2. Complete Your 2020-2021 FAFSA or California Dream Act Application
  3. Complete Your Math and English/ESL Placement
  4. Submit High School Transcripts (see FAQs)
  5. Complete Advisement
  6. Create Your First Semester Plan
  7. Complete Orientation
  8. Register for Classes (12 units minimum)

Maintaining Eligibility

To maintain Irvine Valley Promise eligibility, students must:

  • Remain enrolled in at least 12 units for both the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters
  • Take one English and one Math course in your first year (exceptions will be made for students pursuing certificates)
  • Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Meet with their designated Promise Counselor at least twice per semester
