Dance Rehearsal & Performance - Dance 65
DNCE 65: Sections: 4 units, 3 units, 2 units, 1 unit
Audition: First Friday of every semester (1:00pm - 4:00pm in PE160)
This course focuses on the various aspects involved in the preparation of dance productions. It invites choreographers and dancers to experience the creative and rehearsal process and to participate in performances at IVC.
Choreographies will be selected to be performed either at an informal showing or at concerts throughout the semester.
Students can sign up for 1, 2, 3 units (4 for choreographers) depending on the number of dances they are selected to participate in.
All students are required to participate in the technical and production aspects of the concerts.
Participation by audition on the first Friday of the semester:
1:00-3:00pm in PE 160
(Note: Rehearsal times vary depending on casting)
Time slots are:
Friday, 1:00-5:20pm, Sunday, 11:00-2:00pm, and Monday, 8:30-10:00pm

Choreographer Participation
If you are interested in participation in Dance 65 as a choreographer, you must have completed a choreography course at IVC or the equivalent.
Fill out a choreographer proposal sheet and present your project at choreographers’ meeting on the first Friday of the semester in room 270 from 4-6pm.
Selected choreographers will audition dancers on the second week-end of the semester: Friday from 4-6:30pm and Saturday from 12:30-3:00pm. After the Saturday audition, choreographers will coordinate with Danc 65 faculty to finalize the casting and set up the rehearsal schedule for their dance.
Choreographers will attend a lighting class early in the semester in the Performing Arts Center.
Choreographers will present their pieces at 3 showings scheduled throughout the semester. Final concert programming will be determined after the second showing.
Pieces not ready for the concert will be shown at the informal choreography presentation at the end of the semester.
All choreographers are required to participate in the technical and production aspects of the concerts.

Dancer Participation
If you are interested in dancing in our concert, you must audition on the second week-end of the semester.
Auditions are held in PE 160 at the following dates and times:
Friday from 4-6:30pm and Saturday from 12:30-3pm
Dancers are offered a wide variety of dance styles and artistic visions to experience and grow from. Come to the auditions ready to dance, with shoes/props you need to show the styles you can do.
You will be asked to fill out a schedule of availability for rehearsals and performances.
Choreographers and Danc 65 faculty will select dancers based on ability and availability.
All dancers are required to participate in the technical and production aspects of the concerts.
