Performance Events

Students can enjoy the thrill of performing as part of the IVC Dance Ensemble. The IVC Dance Ensemble performs all styles of dance in concerts on and off-campus. Each spring the Ensemble goes on an annual tour to numerous California Colleges including participation at American College Dance Festival. Participation is through the Dance Rehearsal and Performance class. Students commit to a varying number of dance pieces that are performed.

Fall & Spring Dance Concerts

Sign up for Dance Rehearsals and Performance Course (0.5 - 2.0 units) in order to receive credit for the time you spend in rehearsals.  A schedule of rehearsal dates will be created at the first class meeting of the Dance Rehearsals and Performance class.  All dancers interested in performing should attend this meeting. There will be an informal performance audition in order to select pieces for this concert. Selection of Dances will be based upon the following criteria: Dance pieces most ready in terms of knowledge and performance of movement material, highest quality pieces that can represent Irvine Valley College in the most diverse way.

Annual Spring Dance Tour

Dance pieces presented at the fall dance concert will be selected to tour other colleges in California. Selection priority will be given according to the following criteria: Dance pieces most ready in terms of knowledge and performance of movement material, pieces in which all cast members can attend and highest quality pieces that can represent Irvine Valley College in the most diverse way. With this in mind completed fall dance pieces are the most eligible for the Spring Tour. However, if cast members in the fall dance pieces are not able to attend a performance date, and if there are dance pieces choreographed in spring semester ready to perform, they may be given the opportunity to perform for the Spring Tour in place of fall dance pieces.

Nine IVC students performed as guest dancers at Cypress College for their semester-end studio concert in December, 2006.
