The
School of Health Sciences, Physical Education and Athletics is dedicated
to the principle that a truly educated individual understands the essential
relationship between mind and body. Offering courses in health, nutrition
and first aid, as well as a variety of physical conditioning and sports
classes, the primary mission of each highly trained instructor is to advance
the concept of mental and physical fitness and balance. Integrated into
the curriculum of the school is the college's highly acclaimed and state
championship intercollegiate athletics program. Fielding teams in men's
and women's golf, cross country, tennis, basketball, soccer, track and
field and volleyball, baseball, softball and women's badminton, Irvine
Valley College is one of the very few institutions that provide equal
access to women, as well as men, in athletic competition. Irvine Valley
College's athletic department prides itself on the number of student athletes
who are successful in attaining scholarship opportunities from four-year
colleges and universities.
Of
tremendous pride to Irvine Valley College is the Life Fitness Center.
Open to all members of the community, the center provides personal instruction
on state of the art equipment for those seeking a well rounded exercise
program. Students who want to continue careers in the field of health
and fitness are encouraged to participate in the fitness specialist program,
here is an opportunity to learn skills qualifying one to become certified
in personal training and conditioning.
