During a Sabbatical to India
Irvine, CA – Irvine Valley College’s Art Gallery presents: A Cup of Cold Water Project, a non-profit advocate endeavor co-founded by photography Professor Jerry McGrath, who recently returned from India during which time he documented the lives of young women, children, and men who are living a life in crisis. By documenting their lives, McGrath hopes to show that children, mostly girls, are being forced into prostitution. He hopes to reveal the plight of these victims using his photographic artworks.
“We intend to not only help women and children escape these bonds, but also provide opportunities for employment, education, and medical care,” said McGrath.
These moving and powerful images will be on display in the Irvine Valley College Art Gallery from November 1, 2007 – January 18, 2008. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Opening Reception: Thursday, November 1 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. For more information about this show contact the Art Gallery at 949-451-5275.
