Psychology student Erit Maor was awarded the first-place prize by the Psi Beta National Honor Society in Psychology for Community Colleges, and by Allyn & Bacon Publishers, for scholarly research in psychology. Maor’s research paper, “The Role of Portable Technology in College Students’ Lives: The Possible Consequences of Portable Technology on Academic Achievement,” won her a $500 cash award and a certificate of recognition.
Psychology professor Kari Tucker, who serves as the lead faculty advisor to the college’s Psi Beta chapter, was named the recipient of the Psi Beta/Virginia Staudt Sexton Faculty Advisor Award, for her efforts in promoting research and student success in the field of psychology. Maor and Tucker will receive their awards this month at the 2006 American Psychological Association national convention in New Orleans.
