Student receives Michael S. Carona Scholarship

Irvine Valley College student Stefanie Alvarez was the recipient of the 2006 Michael S. Carona Foundation Scholarship in July. The $2,500 scholarship was presented to Alvarez by Orange County Sheriff Michael Carona during ceremonies Santa Ana.
Alvarez, an Administration of Justice major at the college, plans to become a police investigator. She will transfer to California State University, Fullerton next year. Alvarez is a single mother of two children, ages three and eight, and works part time in the counseling office at Irvine Valley College.
The scholarship is awarded each year to students preparing for a career in criminal justice.
