Photo prints aid women and children

July 17, 2006

Photography professor Jerry McGrath will leave in August for Southeast Asia on sabbatical during which he will document the lives of young women and children who are victims of forced prostitution, sexual slavery and human trafficking. McGrath hopes to reveal on a global scale the plight of the victims using visual art and multi-media.

“We intend to not only help women and children escape these bonds but also provide opportunities for employment, education, and medical care,” said McGrath.

McGrath will also lobby national and international state departments to levy sanctions against countries that fail to engage in meaningful reforms.

Photographic prints entitled “A Cup of Cold Water” are being offered to finance the project. A signed original 18”X18” print by McGrath is $300, $500 for 28”X28”. A signed original 22”X22” print of “A Cup of Cold Water, Accept” is $400.

For information about the project or to purchase a print, contact McGrath at jerrymcgrathart@gmail.com or at (714)771-6167.
