Food/literacy drive at commencement
May 9, 2006
The Alpha Omega Mu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is participating in Project Graduation, a student-driven initiative to help combat hunger and illiteracy in the community. As part of the society’s “feed a body, feed a mind” program, students and their families are asked to bring books and non-perishable food items to the college’s commencement ceremony on Friday, May 19, at 4 p.m. Donation receptacles will be located in the Student Services Center Quad. The public is invited to contribute.
All donations will be distributed to the Orangewood Children’s Home and Second Harvest Food Bank.
“The simple gesture of bringing a canned good or new or used book to our graduation ceremony will help improve the quality of life for many in our community,” said college president, Glenn Roquemore. “We invite the public to take part in the “feed a body; feed a mind” project, and stay to enjoy the afternoon that is dedicated to our students.”
