Students receive $140,000 in scholarships
The Irvin Valley Foundation awarded scholarships to 160 students at the Scholarship Awards ceremony in Hart Gymnasium on Thursday, May 12. Students received scholarships for excellence in academics, distinguished community service, or exceptional need, and many students qualified for multiple awards.
This year, the Foundation awarded 15 endowments and 45 scholarships. The scholarships were made on behalf of the college’s benefactors, which include national corporations, local businesses and community service organizations.
With contributions from state government, more than $224,000 in scholarships were made to Irvine Valley students in 2005. The college has awarded nearly $1.5 million to students over the last ten years.
