Jacques Brel is Alive and Well at IVC
April 4, 2005
The Department of Theatre presents Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, April 29 – May 8 in the Forum Theatre. The production brings to the life the words and music of Belgian songwriter Jacques Brel in a cabaret-style revue, filled with the feeling of living in Paris.
It includes 16 of the 300 songs that Brel wrote in his lifetime, and presents a vivid portrait of the artist’s intense musical flair and humor. Brel’s music, often described as haunting as it is beautiful, portrays lost loves, broken dreams and the absurdity that is part of everyday life. Each song is a story unto itself.
Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris was one of the longest running musicals in off-Broadway history.
IVC presents the play as a fundraiser show for the Irvine Valley College Department of Theatre.
The musical runs Thursday - Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students and seniors, and $11 for general admission. The box office is open Wednesdays, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the box office or by calling (949) 451-5333.
