IVC to observe Patriot Day during 9/11 ceremony
August 24, 2004
Irvine Valley College will hold a commemoration ceremony for the victims of 9/11 on Thursday, Sept. 9, in front of the Student Services Center from 11:30 a.m. to noon. With the 9/11 anniversary falling this year on a Saturday, IVC will mark the occasion on a weekday so students may attend.
The ceremony will include a tribute to the lives lost during the Attack on America in 2001 and will honor the sacrifices American troops have made in defending America. In observance of Patriot Day, the tribute will include an invocation by Deacon Skip Seagraves of the Diocese of Orange County, and the laying of a wreath at IVC’s 9/11 Memorial, which was dedicated by the IVC Foundation on the first anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The Irvine Police Department will provide a color guard.
