Pulitzer nominee publishes second book of poetry

Irvine Valley College English instructor Dr. Michelle Mitchell-Foust will have her second book of poetry, Imago Mundi, published in 2005. The title is taken from a book by the same name, a medieval atlas of the known world which was a favorite of Christopher Columbus. Imago Mundi, or World Image, will be available through Amazon.com and other retail outlets. Mitchell-Foust, who is a founding member of the Casa Romantica Poetry Series, will be giving readings from the book in September and January at Casa Romantica in San Clemente. Her first book of poetry, Circassian Girls, published by Elixir Press in 2001, was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
Mitchell-Foust earned a bachelor’s. from Eastern Illinois University and a master’s and doctorate in English from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her work has appeared in the American Literary Review, The Nation, and numerous prominent literary publications. She has been an American Poet in Residence in Donegal, Ireland since 1996. Mitchell-Foust is the recipient of several national poetry awards including an Academy of American Poets Prize and the 1996 “Discovery”/The Nation Award. She is currently seeking a
publisher for her first novel, Wet Collection. Mitchell-Foust lives in Dana Point.
