Vern M. Hodge Appointed Vice President of Student Services
IRVINE, CA—Vern M. Hodge, Ed.D, will assume responsibilities as Vice
President of Student Services at Irvine Valley College Oct. 1. Hodge’s
appointment was approved August 26 by the South Orange County Community College
District Board of Trustees.
A District employee for over 23 years, Hodge was assigned to the Irvine Valley
College post after serving as Vice President of Student Services at Saddleback
College, a position he has held since 1989.
“Vern Hodge has accepted the leadership of a strong Student Services
program with a dedicated staff that will surely be enhanced by his appointment.
I know Vern to be a committed educator, and I believe that he is an excellent
addition to our administrative staff,” said Irvine Valley College
President, Glenn Roquemore. “With his many years of experience in our
District, he will bring knowledge and stability the position.”
Hodge is a product of the California community college system, having graduated
with an Associate of Arts degree in Journalism from nearby Goldenwest College,
where he served as student body president. Hodge received both a Bachelor of
Arts in Communications and a Master of Science in Counseling from California
State University, Fullerton, and he recently received his Ed.D. in Higher Education
from the University of Southern California.
Hodge began his career with the SOCCCD in 1976 as a career placement supervisor
for Saddleback College—Irvine Valley College’s sister campus—where
he was also associate faculty and later served as both financial aid officer
and dean of student development before his appointment as vice president.
Among his professional affiliations are the California Community College Chief
Student Services Administrators Association, and the California Community College
Student Affairs Association. Hodge currently serves as chairperson for the Orange
Empire Conference Athletic Appeals Board and, until recently, served as president
of the Orange Empire Conference.
