Show highlights 40 pieces at the first-ever professionally juried Student Exhibit
IRVINE, CAThe Irvine Valley College Art Gallery opens in April with the first professionally juried student exhibition, April 30 June 28. A reception for the student artists will be held on Thursday, May 2 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend the free event.
Carl Berg, Exhibition Curator at the Irvine Fine Arts Center, selected 40 student pieces for the exhibit. Students submitted 115 works in drawing, painting, watercolor, photography, two-dimensional design, and digital arts.
First place winners will receive cash awards in each of the five categories. Awards will also be given for Best of Show and a Special Jurors Award.
The Associated Students of Irvine Valley College will hold a benefit raffle during the reception; winners receive a gift certificate to local art stores. Proceeds from the raffle provide funding for the Irvine Valleys Art Gallery.
Gallery hours are Monday Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The IVC art gallery is located in B-112. For more information, contact Gallery Director, Mark Leysen, at (949) 559-6934.
