BASIC MATH MODULES  (MATH 350 A-H) ORIENTATION

Please watch the Overview and  the 8-step videos.  You do not need to come in to take this class.  You do all the work online including the final exam.  Please take your final exam before or on the last day of your class duration.  You will get credit if you score 70% or higher in the final exam.  You have to take the final exam in one sitting and without a calculator.

I recommend that you follow the steps below to have a successful semester with the modules:

This is probably one of the best decisions of your life.  By taking the modules, you will be building a great foundation for your subsequent math classes.  Please come to my office hours that I have 5 hours a week on the schedule shown here:

 
To get credit for this class all you have to do is to score 70% or better in the final exam. 
 
I have two versions of the final exam.  And you have to access them each once only.  If you do score 70% or better in the first one, you do NOT need to take the second one.  If you do not score 70% or better, you will have to take the second final to pass.  You will obtain a pass or fail in this class.
 
Your deadline is the end of 16 weeks (May 17th 2012) for each module.  However, I recommend that you take all 8 modules and stagger them as follows and get the finals done so that you can proceed to the next module smoothly. 
 
I recommend the following timeline:
 
MANDATORY ORIENTATION JANUARY 11, 7 pm in B118.
 
Finish Module A by January 27th
Finish Module B by February 10th
Finish Module C by February 24th
FInish Module D by March 9th
FInish Module E by March 30th
Finish Module F by April 13th
Finish Module G by April 27th
Finish Module H by May 11th
 
LAST DEADLINE FOR ALL OF THEM IS MAY 17th NO EXCEPTIONS.
 
I recommend once you sign up for the modules and watch the orientation videos, do the following:
 
1) Take the Diagnostic Test to see if you need to take other modules accessing Blackboard (YOU DO THIS ONLY ONCE)
2) Take the Entry Survey the first day of class so that I get to know about you.
3) Get a printout of your handouts so that you can pace yourself and get everything done on time.
4) Get a printout of your video handouts
5) Get a printout of your worksheets and keys of worksheets
6) Get a printout of your self tests (optional)
7) Put all your handouts, worksheets and tests in your binder.
8) Repeat the following steps for each topic:
    a) Watch the video and take notes
    b) Do the worksheet and self correct
    c) Take the self test
9) Once you are done with all the sections and topics, take the final pre-test to see if you are ready to take the final exam.  Your deadline for the final exam is May 17th.
10) Take the exit survey
