Become a Tutor

Becoming a tutor at the Learning Center is an excellent way to gain work experience in an academic environment. Tutors have the advantage of conveniently meeting students while attending classes at IVC and maintaining a flexible schedule.

Students interested in tutoring must first complete TU 100, Fundamentals of Peer Tutoring. This is a 2 unit class which includes 32 hours of required tutoring during the semester. The course provides practical skills for tutoring, including the study of learning anxieties, study habits and techniques for improving students success. Upon completion of the class, students may be hired for a tutoring position the following semester.

If you already have a bachelors degree and/or a teaching credential, you may apply for a waiver of TU 100.

The Learning Center is always seeking qualified applicants to join our staff of wonderful, personable tutors. Enroll in TU 100 today!
