Irvine Valley College takes great pride in announcing that college president Glenn R. Roquemore, PhD, will join 13 nationally elected community college CEOs who advise the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) on CEO leadership development opportunities and sponsor programs for member presidents.

glenn_desk_cropp_12A_3088.jpgThe Presidents’ Academy Executive Committee was created by the AACC Board of Directors to advise the AACC President and CEO and AACC Board of Directors on professional development training for CEOs. The Presidents’ Academy Executive Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the AACC President and CEO in planning their Summer Institute and provides special sessions for CEOs at the AACC Annual Convention and at the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Annual Congress.

Founded in 1920, the AACC has, over four decades, become the leading proponent and the national “voice for community colleges.” Headquartered in Washington, DC, the association represents nearly 1,200 two-year, associate degree-granting  institutions and more than 13 million students, as well as a growing number of international members in Puerto Rico, Japan, Great Britain, Korea and the United Arab Emirates. The colleges are the largest and fastest-growing segment of US higher education, enrolling close to half (46 percent) of all US undergraduates.

Dr. Roquemore said, “I am humbled by this opportunity to contribute to community colleges on a national level.  I look forward to assisting with the development of new CEOs, participating in complex issues that today’s CEOs face, and advising on session planning for the AACC National Conference and the ACCT Congress."

Dr. Roquemore will serve a three year term.
