The accolades kept coming for the Irvine Valley men's volleyball team this week.
It was announced that five Lasers were named to all-Pacific Coast Conference teams. Sophomore outside hitter Brando Directo and sophomore libero Chris Reames were each named to the first team, while freshman setter Kevin Fiske, sophomore opposite Caleb Brophy and freshman middle blocker Mark Metrakos were selected to the second team.
Directo, who was named MVP of the state tournament after IVC beat Grossmont for the championship last week, averaged 3.64 kills per game. He ranked second in the conference and fourth in the state in that category.
Directo also averaged 2.03 digs and hit .297 on the season. Reames averaged 2.55 digs per game. He ranked fourth in conference in digs during the regular season.
Fiske averaged 11.09 assists per game and ranked second in conference. Brophy averaged 2.47 kills per game and was third on the team in digs and first in aces. And Metrakos averaged 2.62 kills per game and 1.20 blocks per game and hit a team-best .363.
He ranked first in blocks and sixth in hitting percentage in the conference. Directo, Reames, Fiske, Brophy and Metrakos helped Irvine Valley win a state title and end the year with an overall record of 15-6.
