Men's and women's basketball teams make the playoffs

Both the Irvine Valley men's and women's basketball teams made the Southern California Regional Playoffs, it was learned on Monday.

But both teams will be on the road for their first games.

The Irvine Valley men's team, which finished second in the Orange Empire Conference, was seeded 10th and will play at No. 7 Antelope Valley on Friday at 7 p.m. in what is considered a second-round game.

The 17th through 20th seeds are playing in the first round on Tuesday and will meet the top four-seeded teams in the bracket this weekend.

Antelope Valley came in third place in the Foothill Conference. The Irvine Valley men have a record of 22-6 overall. Antelope Valley is 21-7.

The Irvine Valley women's team, which ended up finishing third in the Orange Empire Conference, got the No. 13 seed and will be at No. 4 East LA on Friday at 7 p.m.

East LA finished second in the South Coast Conference behind Mt. SAC, which is the top seeded team in the women's bracket. Irvine Valley has a record of 18-12 overall, while East LA is 22-6.
