Scholarship Awards Ceremony

Irvine Valley College awarded over $136,000 at the Scholarship Awards Ceremony thanks to its many benefactors.
Students received scholarships for excellence in academics, distinguished community service and financial need.
In total, more than $210,000 in scholarships were awarded during the 2005-06 academic year.
Six new awards were established:
- Anthony J. Sully Memorial Scholarship ($600) is awarded to a Hispanic or African-American student who intends to transfer to a four-year university and has financial need.
- English and Humanities Endowed Scholarship ($200) awarded to a student who is an English or Humanities major and has an interest in writing for publication.
- Honors Program Scholarship ($500) is awarded to two students in recognition of their academic achievement.
- Phi Theta Kappa Leader of Promise Scholarship ($1,000) awarded to a student who is in good standing with Phi Theta Kappa, the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.5 million members and 1,200 chapters located in 50 states.
- Simin Amindari Life Science Award ($100) awarded to an outstanding student who is majoring in Life Sciences.
- Jenny Richards Endowed Scholarship awarded to a vocal music student in memory of former IVC student Jenny Richards who died of cancer in 2005.
