Stefanie Alvarez was named the recipient of this year’s $2,500 scholarship from Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona.
Stefanie is an Administration of Justice major at Irvine Valley College and she will be transferring to Cal State Fullerton in spring 2007. Her career goal is to become a police investigator. In addition to being a college student, she is a single mother of Shayla, age 3 and Charles, age 8. She also works 20 hours per week in the counseling office at Irvine Valley College.
“This scholarship could not have come at a better time and I am extremely grateful to Sheriff Mike Carona,” said Stefanie Alvarez. “With this financial support, my dream of a college education will soon become a reality.”
