TA25 Great Plays: Primitive to RenaissanceTA26 Great Plays: Renaissance to Modern
These reading and discussion courses study significant plays from the major eras of world drama. The course traces the development of the play in themes, characterization, and dramatic structure considering philosophical and cultural backgrounds and production styles that have influenced the staging of plays. Field trips to see play performances may be required. TA25 is offered in the fall and TA26 is offered in the spring. These courses are also offered in the summer.
The course is also available as part of the IVC Honors Program
. However, it is open to all students. Honors program sections are limited to twenty students and the course often fills early. College level reading and writing skills are essential for sections of TA25 Honors and TA26 Honors. In addition, familiarity with Modern Language Association Guidelines for writing research papers is useful. It is recommended that students complete Writing 1 before taking the honors courses.
