EXTENDED OPPORTUNITY PROGRAMS & SERVICES
HOW TO QUALIFY
EOPS is a state funded program for students who are financially and educationally disadvantaged. At Irvine Valley College, EOPS works to help students succeed by providing educational opportunities, encouragement, and support services. Reaching educational goals may seem difficult sometimes. We are committed to assisting our students in realizing their potential.
You are eligible for EOPS if:
- You are a California resident
- You qualify for the Board of Governors Tuition Waiver (A or B) through the Financial Aid Office
- You are enrolled full-time (12 or more units)
- You have completed less than 70 degree applicable college units
- You meet one of the educational disadvantaged areas determined by EOPS
(You must meet all of the above requirements to qualify)
EOPS provides the following services to assist students to meet the costs of their education:
- Book Loans
- Scholarships
- Emergency Loans
- Internship Programs
- Direct Student Grants
- Work Study Programs
- UC & CSU Application Fee Waivers
- Financial Aid Application Assistance
The EOPS Book Service Program provides eligible students with required textbooks for their classes during the semester in which they are enrolled. When the semester ends, students are asked to return the borrowed texts.
CARE 
The Cooperative Agencies Resources for Educational program offers a number of additional services for EOPS single parents with at least one child under the age of 14, who are receiving welfare assistance. Services include child care, counseling, agency liaisons, housing assistance, bus passes, emergency car repairs, and referral assistance.

SUMMER READINESS PROGRAM
Each summer EOPS offers a program to assist recent high school graduates to make a successful transition to Irvine Valley College. Participants work on study skill, career planning, and strategies for making a successful transition into college life.
COUNSELINGSpecialized counseling for EOPS students focuses on academic planning, career planning, and personal concerns. Services are designed to assist students to develop planning strategies so that they may succeed in reaching their academic and occupational goals.
UNIVERSITY TRANSFER PROGRAM
EOPS can help with the process of transferring to a four year college or university by:
Arranging visits to college and university campuses
Providing information on transfer requirements
Assisting with admission applications
Following up on your application to ensure completion and acceptance
Application fee waivers available
