IVC Reading Program

The Irvine Valley College Reading Program is built on the philosophy that reading is a developing skill honed through the application of strategies and the accumulation of experiences. The Reading Program offers developmental courses which prepare students to comprehend college textbooks, enhance vocabulary, and apply strategies for efficient reading. Additionally, the program offers transfer courses in critical reading. Students learn to analyze and evaluate works of fiction and non-fiction, note subtleties of language, understand the structure of arguments, recognize sound reasoning, and draw valid conclusions.
