Resources for Students

Many companies are opening their services to the public for free in response to the coronavirus outbreak. Additionally, many barriers are being reduced or eliminated for people to access supportive services though the government at this time. Please review the list of helpful links below.

Resources at IVC

Medical and/or Mental Health Needs

  • Ask our Health and Wellness Center doctor your medical questions! Please call our-Ask-A-Nurse Hotline at 949-451-5687.
  • Mental health support is also available through our Health and Wellness Center. Providers are ready to speak to you daily, Monday-Friday.

Laptop or Internet Access for Online IVC Classes from Home

  • We can loan you a laptop and/or a hotspot (a device that gives you wireless internet access).
  • Irvine Valley College has a very limited number of laptops and hotspots available to students in greatest need.
  • Request a laptop or hotspot by completing and submitting this form or call our hotline at 949-464-7959.

Textbooks Needs

Food Needs

The IVC Food Resource Center has food bags to give to those in need. Call 949-451-5687 to find out more. Please note these bags will only be given out on specific days and times via a drive-through on campus; ask for pickup times when you call.

Tutoring Needs

  • All IVC tutoring services are being offered remotely.
  • The Math Center is now functioning on Canvas in the Discussion area for students enrolled in TU 301, section 62840.
  • Student Success Center students need to add TU 301 to access the Smarthinking online tutoring platform (available 24/7).
  • Writing Center students need to enroll in a WR conference to access the online WR center resources on Canvas. A virtual tour of resources is provided here.

  • Charter/Spectrum Internet: Free internet for students for 60 days
  • Comcast Internet: Free internet for students for 60 days
  • Cox: Free internet for students for 60 days
  • Adobe: free access to Creative Cloud tools through May for home use by students attending schools that currently only provide lab access through May.
  • Cengage: free access to digital platforms and 14,000 ebooks through Cengage Unlimited


K-12 Learning/Resources for Kids

  • Scholastic: Free home learning curriculum and resources for K-12
  • CA Meals for Kids: helps you find nearby meals during COVID-19 school closures
  • Stand Up for Kids: If you are experiencing homelessness in the Orange County area and are between the ages of 12 and 24, please call the Stand Up for Kids hotline at (714) 356-5437
  • Women, Infants, Children (WIC): provides supplemental foods, nutrition, education, and referrals to health care at no cost to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants, and children up to age 5
  • YMCA: offering childcare for essential workers
  • Curiosity Kids: offers educational video content for kids for $12/year (COVID-19 special)
  • Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems: bestselling children’s book Illustrator hosts free coloring lessons for kids
  • PE with Joe Wicks: free fun video workouts for kids
  • StorylineOnline: Free during COVID-19: celebrities reading stories to children
