Chorale Information for Our Silver Anniversary Season
The Irvine Masterworks Chorale recently celebrated its 25th year. Founding director
Dr. Janice Wyma started it in 1979, the year the college opened. The Chorale has performed a wide variety of concerts at home and abroad, touring throughout the U.S., as well as Europe and South America.
Past performances include Mozart's "Requiem" at Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Los Angeles premiere of "On Gold Mountain" by Nathan Wing, Mahler's "Eighth Symphony" at the Crystal Cathedral, and the Mozart "Mass in C-Minor" in Hawaii.
Become a Part of Our Family.
Many members of the Chorale have been with the group for years. New singers are always welcomed and encouraged to become returning members themselves. College registration is required. Singers must audition, and sight reading is an asset. The Masterworks Chorale rehearses on Tuesday evenings, with additional sectional rehearsals conducted as needed. The Oriana Women's Choir rehearses on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
Catch Us at Home and Abroad.
The Chorale performs several concerts at home each year, as well as a concert tour in alternate years. Scholarship funds help student members afford the tours - enrichment opportunities that can't be duplicated here at home.
Your Assistance Helps Us Grow.
The Irvine Masterworks Chorale gratefully acknowledges the assistance it receives from loyal donors who help keep the Chorale alive. Donations and ticket sales help defray the choir's considerable expenses, and help fund students who otherwise couldn't afford to participate in the Chorale's tours abroad.
