CalWORKS
Welfare-To-Work Training
Irvine Valley College offers a number of vocational certificate
training programs. The following have been approved by the
Orange County Department Of Social Services for referral to Welfare
To Work clients.
Each program is designed not to exceed 39 weeks of training.
Every effort will be made to place students concurrently in on--the--
job training work study positions that will match practical experience
with classroom instruction.

- Drafting Technician
- Electronic Technician
- Fitness Specialist
- General Office
- Preschool Teacher/Instructional Aide
- Security Guard
Support Systems
Students who attend Irvine Valley College and are eligible for
financial- aid work study may participate in the CalWORKS
Program.
Job search assistants, employment
retention workshops, and competencies training for specific entry
level employment will be offered to all CalWORKS
students.
Child care, financial-aid assistance, to counseling and specialized
workshops are also available to eligible participants. Irvine
Valley College offers a number of special courses designed to
ensure a successful transition into the college's general curriculum.
Employment Training
As AmeriCorps members, students serve as literacy
tutor 20 hours per week and enroll in 12 units of college courses.
Interested members may enroll in IVC's Early Childhood Education
Certificate Program to complement their service contract.
Completion of this one year program will qualify members for positions
as preschool teachers or instructional aides. This service-learning
combination has also been approved for CALWORKS participants.
