Women's volleyball team swept at Cypress

The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team dropped its second match in its last three contests, losing to Cypress in three straight games (25-21, 25-20, 25-20) Friday night at Cypress in an Orange Empire Conference match.
With the win Cypress moved into a tie with Orange Coast for first place in conference. IVC dropped into second-place in the standings, one match behind both OCC and Cypress.
IVC's record slippped to 12-3 overall and 8-3 in conference.
It was the first time Irvine Valley had been swept all season.
The Lasers hit just .198 as a team in the match.
Sophomore outside hitter Katie Wilkerson was a bright spot for the Lasers. She ended with 15 kills, 10 digs and two aces. She also hit .310 in the contest.
Wilkerson has now led Irvine Valley in kills in matches nine times this season.
Sophomore middle blocker Caitlin Segert and freshman outside hitter Hillary Crone each added six kills. Crone also had a team-high four blocks. Sophomore Nichole May finished with 11 digs and sophomore setter Allie Hammer had 34 assists.
Irvine Valley will try to bounce back when it plays first-place Orange Coast next Wednesday at IVC at 6 p.m.
