Women's volleyball team handles San Diego City

The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team remained unbeaten after its easiest victory of the season so far.
The Lasers won at San Diego City, 25-10, 25-21, 25-17, in a nonconference match on Friday.
Irvine Valley, which is ranked fifth in the state, improved its record to 4-0 overall. San Diego City's record fell to 1-3.
The Lasers were led by freshmen Ellie Wiekamp and Hillary Crone. Wiekamp finished with 11 kills and seven digs. She also hit .435 in the match. Crone ended with 10 kills and hit .444.
In all, 10 IVC players recorded at least one kill. Freshman Sarah Atilano added five kills and four digs. Sophomore Nichole May added 10 digs and sophomore setter Allie Hammer ran the offense with 33 assists.
IVC hit .456 as a team in the contest.
It should get a little tougher for Irvine Valley next Wednesday. The Lasers play their final nonconference match of the season, hosting Moorpark at 5 p.m.
Moorpark is ranked sixth in the state. The Raiders, who won the Western State Conference last season, had a record of 2-0 heading into this week. They had yet to drop a game.
