Women's volleyball team loses in five at Fullerton

The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team will have to wait another day to clinch at least a share of their second straight Orange Empire Conference title.
The Lasers fell to Fullerton, 24-26, 25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 15-12, at Fullerton in an Orange Empire Conference match on Wednesday.
IVC hit just .208 as a team in the match. Sophomore outside hitter Mari Guadagnini stood out with 18 kills and 21 digs. She also hit .341.
Freshman Nichole May had nine kills and a team-high 25 digs and sophomore libero Amanda Donaldson finished with 23 digs. Freshman setter Allie Hammer had 43 assists.
The Lasers still held on to first place in the Orange Empire Conference with a record of 10-2. Fullerton is one match back at 9-3 with two contests to play. Orange Coast and Golden West are tied for third at 8-4.
Irvine Valley finishes up the regular season with matches against Santa Ana on Friday and Saddleback next Wednesday.
The Lasers swept both of those teams earlier this season.
A win on Friday gives IVC at least a share of the conference title and another victory next Wednesday clinches the title outright.
Irvine Valley's record stands at 14-5 overall. The team is ranked sixth in the state.
Friday's match against Santa Ana will be played at Concordia University at 7 p.m. because of the IVC men's basketball tournament at Irvine Valley.
