Women's volleyball team wins at Cypress

The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team remained along in first place in the Orange Empire Conference standings with a four-game win at Cypress Friday night.
The Lasers, who are ranked ninth in the state, improved their record to 12-4 overall and 8-1 in conference. IVC is one match ahead of second-place Golden West.
Irvine Valley hit .342 as a team in the 25-19, 21-25, 25-15, 25-23 win over Cypress. It was led by freshman outside hitter Casey Williams with 16 kills, freshman middle blocker Kelsey Hall with 11 kills and freshman Nichole May and sophomore Mari Guadagnini with 10 kills each.
Freshman middle blocker Carly Loucks had six blocks, May added five blocks and sophomore Amanda Donaldson had 16 digs.
Guadagnini and May each contributed 13 digs. Freshman setter Allie Hammer had 47 assists.
The Lasers take on Riverside at home next Wednesday. Riverside is in sixth place in the conference standings.
IVC then hosts Orange Coast next Friday at 6 p.m.
