The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team suffered its first loss in Orange Empire Conference play, falling to Orange Coast, 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 19-25, 25-22) Wednesday night at Orange Coast.
The loss dropped Irvine Valley's record to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in conference. Orange Coast improved to 11-1 overall and 3-1 in conference.
The Lasers were led by sophomore outside hitter Mari Guadagnini, who had 11 kills and six digs. Freshman middle blocker Caitlin Segert added nine kills and five blocks and freshman Nichole May had six kills, 12 digs and two aces.
Also contributing were sophomore libero Amanda Donaldson (16 digs), freshman defensive specialist Allysa Swatek (10 digs), freshman middle blocker Carly Loucks (6 blocks), sophomore outside hitter Camryn Torromeo (3 aces) and freshman setter Lanie Titterud (19 assists).
IVC had 60 digs, 19 blocks and 10 aces as a team, but had a hitting percentage of just .117.
The Lasers will try and get back in the win column on Friday. They host Fullerton in a conference match at 6 p.m.
