Women's volleyball team loses in four at Palomar

The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team enters the Orange Empire Conference part of its schedule with a record of 4-3 after losing to Palomar in four games (25-17, 25-23, 17-25, 25-23) Friday night on the road.

Irvine Valley hit just .127 as a team in the match (42-28-116) and had 15 service errors.

The Lasers were led by sophomore Mari Guadagnini, who finished with eight kills and six digs.

Freshman Casey Williams added seven kills and two blocks and freshman Caitlin Segert added seven kills and three blocks.

Sophomore Amanda Donaldson paced the team in digs with 14 and freshman Nichole May added 10 digs. Freshman Allie Hammer finished with 33 assists, four digs and three kills.

The Lasers have a week off before opening defense of their conference title next Friday at Golden West.

Golden West is currently ranked third in the state behind only Los Angeles Pierce and El Camino. Golden West has a record of 5-1 overall.

After losing two of their last three matches, IVC droppedin the state rankings to 17th.

Other conference teams ranked in the state include Orange Coast at No. 6, Fullerton at No. 10, Cypress at No. 13 and Riverside at No. 21.

IVC's next home match is against Cypress on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m.
